1928 Building (Former Kyoto Branch Office of the Mainichi Shimbun)
The building demonstrates the influence of Art Deco in various aspects of its design, such as the star-shaped windows and balcony in the shape of the former company emblem, the lamp covers at the front entrance, and the floor tiles.
Today, the building is a popular destination for many people as a complex of various stores, including restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment centers. The establishment was registered as a Kyoto City Tangible Cultural Property in 1983.
