■元違和感 「違和感からはじまる未来」
国民の7割が賛成していると言われる同性婚。それでも、結婚の平等は実現しないまま、法制度は一向に動かない。誰かを愛しても、病室に入れない。財産を共有できない。子どもを育てても、法的には「家族」じゃない。どうしてこんなに当たり前のことが、こんなにも先送りにされるの？この国で、当事者たちは「愛」と「制度」はどう向き合ってきたのか？そしてこれから、私たちはどんな未来を選べるのか。結婚の平等が“あとまわし”にされ続ける理由を、スペシャルゲストに坂田麻智さん、坂田テレサさんを迎え、元違和感がクィアの視点から問い直します。

■出演者情報
元違和感
クィアな視点から世の中の“違和感”を問いかけ、その先を妄想するコレクティブ。雑誌『IWAKAN』の元編集部メンバー──アンドロメダ、ジェレミー・ベンケムン、ユリ・アボ──によって結成。社会の“違和感”に光を当て、その先を想像し、語り合うことを通じて、固定観念を問い直す創造的なコンテンツを展開。ポッドキャスト番組『もっと違和感！』の制作を中心に、議論と妄想を武器に、新たな視点を世の中に投げかけています。

アンドロメダ（写真左）
東京を拠点に活動するドラァグクイーン、アーティスト、ポッドキャスター、イベントMCなど、多彩な顔を持つ表現者。メキシコとカナダの文化的背景を持ち、トランス女性としてのアイデンティティを体現する。唯一無二の視点と存在感で、観る者を魅了し続けるスター。

ユリ・アボ（写真中）
東京・港区生まれ、さそり座の女。広告・ブランディング会社でプロデューサーとして活動する傍ら、ときどき雑誌や文芸誌にエッセイを寄稿。

ジェレミー・ベンケムン（写真右）
1993年生まれ、フランス・カンヌ出身の写真家・編集者。現在は東京を拠点に活動中。

坂田 テレサさん& 坂田 麻智さん
2008年に大阪で出会う。二人で一緒にいる時間が楽しく、物事に対する価値観も似ていることからすぐにお付き合いが始まり、翌年には一緒に暮らし始める。
2013年に京都で古い町家を購入、愛犬ロージーと共に二人での生活が始まった。米国で同性婚が法制化された2015年には、テ レサさんの出身地であるオレゴン州で結婚。生活基盤のある日本では法的な婚姻が認められていないことから、「結婚の自由をすべての人に訴訟」で関西原告として提訴。NPO法人虹色ダイバーシティ理事としても多様な社会の実現のために尽力している。麻智さんの好きな言葉は「千里の道も一歩から」。テレサさんの好きな日本語は「七転八起」。
現在は、まもなく3歳となる一人娘を育てながら、誰もが平等に生きられる社会の実現を願っている。

Join Moto-IWAKAn and special guests Maki Sakata and Teresa Sakata for a candid conversation exploring why marriage equality remains out of reach in Japan — despite support from over 70% of the public.

Same-sex couples still face legal barriers to basic rights: hospital visitation, shared property, and recognition as a family. Why is something so fundamental still being delayed?

Through a queer lens that questions the norms we’ve come to accept, we’ll examine the disconnect between love and the legal system — and imagine a more inclusive future.

Moto-IWAKAN
Moto IWAKAN is a collective that questions the subtle “discomforts” of society, called iwakan in Japanese, from a queer perspective, and dares to imagine what lies beyond them. Formed by former editors of IWAKAN Magazine, Andromeda, Jeremy Benkemoun, and Yuri Abo, the group shines a light on social unease and creates thought-provoking content that challenges fixed ideas through conversation and creativity. At the heart of their work is the podcast series Motto IWAKAN!, where discussion and daydreaming become tools for offering new ways of seeing the world.

Andromeda – picture left
A Tokyo-based performer with many faces, she is a drag queen, artist, podcaster, and event MC. With cultural roots in Mexico and Canada, she embodies her identity as a trans woman. She brings her unique perspective and undeniable presence to the stage every time, captivating audiences wherever she goes.

Yuri Abo – picture center
Born in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and a proud Scorpio woman. She currently works as a producer in an advertising/branding agency while occasionally writing for magazines and literary journals.

Jeremy Benkemoun – picture right
Photographer and editor originally from Cannes, France, now living and working in Tokyo.

Guest Speakers
Maki and Teresa first met in Osaka in 2008. They quickly began dating, drawn to how much they enjoyed spending time together and how closely their values aligned. The following year, they moved in together.
In 2013, they purchased a traditional townhouse in Kyoto, where they began a new chapter of life with their beloved dog, Rosie. In 2015, the year same-sex marriage was legalized in the United States, they were married in Oregon, Teresa’s home state.
However, because their home and life are based in Japan—where same-sex marriage is still not legally recognized—they joined the “Marriage for All” lawsuit as plaintiffs from the Kansai region, advocating for marriage equality. Teresa also serves as a board member of the nonprofit organization Nijiiro Diversity, working toward a more inclusive society.
Maki’s favorite saying is “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Teresa’s favorite Japanese phrase is “Shichiten hakki” (Fall down seven times, get up eight).
Today, they are raising their daughter, who is soon turning three, while continuing to hope and work for a world where everyone can live equally.
