Windows: Little Troop x Other Matter

Other Matter set out to confront the problem of vinyl. A material that dominates windows in public space, from retail signage to event graphics. Despite its ubiquity, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) has well-established links to environmental harm and human health impacts across every stage of its life.
OM Signage Film is the studio’s first commercial material solution, developed as part of an ongoing inquiry into how design can move beyond petrochemicals. Made in Melbourne, the film is renewable, non-petrochemical, and designed for circular use. It can be produced in any colour and cut to any shape, performing like vinyl but without the toxic legacy. For Ace Hotel Sydney, Other Matter has collaborated with design studio Little Troop to present its first window installation. The bold block-patterns installed here are the same designs now available as sticker packs: a take-home invitation to rethink what materials can be.
The works on The Ace windows are part of the exhibition and will remain in place until early November.

About OM Signage Film: Made from a patent-pending formulation using an algae-based polymer, OM Signage Film is a non-petrochemical, renewable signage solution designed for circularity—a planet-friendly alternative to conventional PVC signage film. It’s handmade in Melbourne.

Ace Artist-in-Residence: Pied-à-Terre by Alex Yudzon at A!R

Alex Yudzon has spent the past decade transforming hotel rooms into temporary studios, sculptural playgrounds, and photographic stages. Known for his idiosyncratic approach—constructing elaborate installations using only the furniture and objects found within each room—Yudzon captures these ephemeral compositions in a single photograph before dismantling the evidence and checking out. The resulting images are part still life, part performance relic, part architectural hallucination. They reflect his fascination with transience, privacy, and the absurd theater of American interiors. Pied-à-terre, his exhibition…
