  • 11:00 am - 6:00 pm | Friday January 30, 2026 - Saturday January 31, 2026
  • Ace Hotel Kyoto | Ace Hotel Kyoto
  • 245-2 Kurumayacho, Nakagyo-ku Kyoto

More than just looking.
A chance to help complete a work by Jimmy Onishi.

For the final two days only, a special spin-off exhibition invites you to take part in The Story of Color and Place—a hands-on workshop where you add your own colors to a work by painter Jimmy Onishi.

The piece you help create will later be exhibited as part of Jimmy Onishi: Hometown Kyoto at the Kyoto Museum of Culture.

Having traveled the world and painted “as if living in each place,” Jimmy Onishi’s practice is rooted in place, memory, and imagination. Now, you’re invited to layer your own colors onto that journey.

This workshop takes place during the closing two days of the spin-off exhibition Another Hometown
(on view through January 31, 2026, Hotel 1F Lobby Gallery), and is available only for this limited time.

The colors you add—small fragments of a moment—will come together as a single artwork, to be shown at the Kyoto Museum of Culture beginning December 5, 2026.

No experience necessary. Free to participate.
A one-of-a-kind collaborative art experience.

From simply seeing to truly leaving something behind.
Join us on this journey through art.

Location: Ace Hotel Kyoto, 1F Lobby Gallery
Dates & Times:
January 30, 1:00 PM–
January 31, 11:00 AM–

Please note: Jimmy Onishi will not be present during the workshop.
This is a participatory workshop based on the conceptual framework of the artwork.
