Heritage & Inclusion months

The Ace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board will be recognizing key Heritage and Inclusion Months with activities and learning engagements shared throughout 2021. In observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, today we unveil the first in a series of interactive handbills that will be distributed throughout all Ace Hotel properties — offering suggestions and teaching moments to celebrate and educate our staff about various group’s histories and contributions to American History.

The initiative will begin in earnest in celebration of Black History Month, alongside a series of company wide panel discussions, guest speakers and more.

SUPPLIER DIVERSITY

During the third quarter of last year, Ace introduced supplier diversity training for all leaders responsible for the purchase of supplies, resources and equipment for our business. Supplier diversity is a proactive business process that seeks to provide equal access to all suppliers regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability or sexual orientation. Teams across all of our domestic hotels and corporate offices began the year with additional tools to help us diversify our supplier spend. We look forward to sharing updates on our progress in the coming months.

VOLUNTEER TIME OFF POLICY

In the fourth quarter of last year, we introduced a Volunteer Time Off program — designed to create community engagement opportunities for Ace employees that are meaningful, purposeful and helpful to those in need. Ace recognizes that promoting community engagement is a way to enrich the lives of our employees, and is central to the commitment we make to encourage positive stewardship in the cities we call home.

Beneath Brooklyn’s K Bridge, the celebration of community, music and culture coalesced around fierce and glorious joy last Saturday. The eve before, the band led the Lobby at Ace Brooklyn into the weekend with an iridescent set from behind the decks.

Greek Visions Finds Meaning in Incoherence

“It’s an incoherent archive of contemporary Greek culture,” says Greek Visions founder Takis Zontiros. What began as an Instagram account cataloguing movements and moments in Greece’s past and recent present — 1970s to 2010s — grew long, curious arms. Greek Visions resembles a virtual museum preserving the minute and monumental of the country’s cultural identity, its reach now spanning a popular Instagram account, regular merch drops and a Substack. Newly notched in the brand’s résumé — curator of the in-room vinyl at Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens (hear a preview here) and collaborator on an apparel collection that revives the decadence of Greek discotheques.
